I was able to shave an excellent five shots off my average score recently, and the terrific thing about it is that I changed nothing about my exact game but only my mindset towards the round. After struggling for a little while now scoring between 90 and 95 and hitting a critical plateau I was becoming seriously fed up mainly because no matter what I tried to change about my game I obviously could not go lower. I even believed learning golf was so difficult until I decided to gave up.
Right after shooting a score similar to this for about the 5th time I was sitting down thinking about the round and I realized something so straightforward but I had never came across the thought before, that I can basically manage the round to eliminate the double bogies. It was the simplest thing and yet I had never thought about it, the challenge was that facing difficult shots around the course I would start to look like Tiger Woods and try to put the ball 3 feet away from the hole. That is the golf tips which I want to discuss here.
My theory was that if this worked once out of ten it would look spectacular and that would make all the up coming duffs worthy. Anyway now that I am sick and tired of shooting nineties I made up my mind that all the Tiger shots would need to take a back seat and I am going to have to start playing smart.
All I had to do was put my ego in the bag and allowing a 10-15 meters putt for birdie, this way the most severe I can do is a bogey. If I had tried to play the flop shot I would have ended up in the bunker, be lucky to get out within 15 meters of the hole and at the most get a double leaving the whole ready to hit my next drive. By playing safe and maintaining my cool I would save at least one shot quite possibly two and leave the complete feeling average to good in relation to playing the next hole.
