My best advice is to go to your local music shop and talk to one of the sales people before placing any orders. They are all going to know the instruments and give you pointers on which are the best. You won’t be the first parent/aunt or uncle/grandparent to come in clueless, wanting to know which of these cheap electric guitars will make your young musician happy. The Fender Squier “Mini” Strat Beginner Electric Guitar is priced at $130. With a 22.75” scale, it is designed for the younger beginner who may have smaller hands. It features 3 single coil Stratocaster pickups with volume and tone controls.
It also features a vintage inspired hard tail bridge which makes restringing easier for the beginner. This also gives the guitar great sustain due to there being more surface contact. This “mini” electric measures 44.5 x 4 x 14.5 inches and weighs 7.8 pounds. The body is laminated wood with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard.
Fender created this electric guitar with an eye on the child beginner. Because of this, the playing life of this guitar may be short, unless it becomes a hand-me-down or a travel companion or follows that young musician to college and a cramped dorm room or apartment. This makes the “mini” a short-term instrument but the price is not too bad for that aim.Check price on Amazon
